Signs of a fuel problem
- The engine cranks normally but won’t start
- Sputtering or loss of power under load or uphill
- Hard starting after the car sits
- A whine from the fuel tank area
- A check engine light with a lean or fuel pressure code
- Fuel smell around the car
Test the fuel system, not just the pump
A no-start or stumble can be the fuel pump, a clogged filter, a bad relay, a pressure regulator, injectors, or something that is not fuel at all, like a crankshaft sensor or ignition. We check fuel pressure and the electrical side of the pump before quoting a pump.
What we repair
- Fuel pumps and fuel pump relays
- Fuel filters (on vehicles that have a serviceable one)
- Fuel injectors and injector wiring
- Fuel pressure regulators and sensors
Done in your driveway?
Filters, relays, injectors and many fuel pumps are done on-site.
When it needs a shop
Some fuel pumps require dropping the tank. Depending on the vehicle, that can be better done on a lift.
